It was 44 degrees about an hour after sunrise when I took this shot across the large Vernal Pool at the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve on Saturday. The shallow pool fills in the spring and is home to rare plant and animal species including fairy shrimp. The pool is at capacity this year.
